AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis Jr. moved to extend several executive orders Tuesday morning "until further notice" that close many city services and "non-essential businesses."

RELATED | Coronavirus coverage on WRDW.com

Davis spoke firmly during a news conference where he and local officials gave updates on their response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Davis once again stressed the need for social distancing to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. He said his concern was that many were not taking the spread of the illness seriously and putting too many others at risk.

While Davis did not declare a stay-at-home order as many cities, counties and even states have done, he said those not taking the orders seriously could push him to make a choice.

“It should not have to be mandatory, but some of you who are not acting as responsible as others, are driving a decision that could very well require mandate greater than what we’ve already done at this time," Davis said.

In light of this we will continue to have services on Free Conference Call.com Call in Number: (712) 770-4070 Access Code:550947#

We will try to have all services uploaded to the site so they can be available to everyone. Thank you.
